The slimmer has challenged the idea that losing weight must be gruelling

Social media bombards us with weight loss advice that often makes shedding pounds seem like an uphill battle. But one content creator has turned this notion on its head.

Elise, who lost 1st 1lb in three months, claimed "the weight fell off" after she implemented a rule that didn’t require her to change the way she ate.

"Here are three tricks that made losing 15lbs in three months extremely easy for me," she told viewers.

"I didn’t have to track anything, I didn’t have to worry about the details of anything, I literally just did this intuitively, and the weight fell off.

"We’ve been sold this idea that weight loss has to be extremely difficult, that you have to track everything, that you have to obsess over it, but at the end of the day, it’s just not true."

Challenging the conventional wisdom that weight loss must be hard work, Elise stressed the importance of a mindset shift.

"The first thing I did was let go of the idea that I was broken, that my metabolism was slow, that there was something different about me that made me medium-sized. I let go of all excuses," she said.

"The second thing was that I didn’t change anything about the food that I was eating. The only thing that I changed was that I reduced my portion sizes by 30 to 50 per cent.

"This allowed me to feel like I could eat anything that I wanted, which is true; you don’t have to cut out any foods. All I needed to do was reduce the amount of food that I was eating."

Elise’s method aligns with a number of studies showing that people eat more when offered large portions of food.

In 2016, a study published in the Journal of the Association for Consumer Research showed that dieters who halved their plate size saw a 30 per cent reduction in the amount of food they consumed on average.

The logic is simple; if diners serve themselves using smaller plates, they serve themselves less food and, by extension, eat less.

In the case of plates, reducing the diameter by 30 per cent halved the area of the plate and reduced consumption by 30 per cent, researchers found.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

In Elise's case, eating whatever she fancied but in smaller amounts meant she could avoid feeling deprived.

"Third was that I did not eat when I was not hungry," Elise continued.

"This has to be ingrained into your head. If you’re not hungry, then you’re eating for an emotional reason."

Listening to hunger cues encourages you to eat in alignment with your body’s needs, which could potentially lead to eating fewer calories.

Echoing Elise's recommendations, another TikTok user named Sarah (@sarahlostweight) recently shared that eating fewer calories than your body burns, following a specific eating window each day, and incorporating movement into your daily routine are key to weight loss.

Having lost 6st 6lb, the slimmer explained that the step-by-step approach helped eliminate her emotional eating and silence persistent food cravings.

"Fasting has a lot of benefits, but for me, I just liked having a routine. It definitely helped my eating habits and helped me lose weight," Sarah shared in her TikTok video.
