Costa has closed three stores this month with more set to follow this year.
However, the retailer is investing in the UK with a push in drive thru locations.
Costa has closed three stores with coffee lovers saying goodbye to spots in North Street, Brighton, Oakham Church Street, East Midlands and West Bridgford.
Church Street in Malvern is scheduled to close in November.
Costa Coffee is opening drive thrus across the country
Costa Coffee stated it will constantly review locations and stores have closed for refurbishments and to make way for new locations.
Despite some branches shutting up shop, the cafe chain is investing in stores across the UK.
In particular, there is a push for drive thrus that make it easier to get a coffee fix while on the go.
Last month, it opened a drive thru at the South Lakeland Retail Park in Kendal and Ossett Silkwood Park in Wakefield.
Regional operations director at Costa Coffee Laura Crow commented on the opening in Kendal.
She said: “We’re thrilled to celebrate the opening of our new drive thru store in Kendal.
"By bringing together the perfect blend of great coffee and vibrant community spirit, the new store will be a hub where you can meet old friends or make new ones – all done over your go-to cup of Costa Coffee.”
Costa opened its 300th store in the summer of 2022 and has shared plans to open more than 500 drive thru locations by 2025.
