Motorhomes and campervan drivers have been banned from travelling along a major route this morning due to severe weather.
The A15 Humber Bridge is currently closed in both directions to high-sided and vulnerable vehicles due to strong winds sweeping across the area.
During strong weather, National Highways often closes certain routes, primarily bridges, to vehicles that are vulnerable during strong winds.
This includes motorhomes, vans, tippers, double-decker buses, transit vans with modifications, and abnormal loads.

Other prohibited vehicles include motorcycles, vehicles towing trailers or caravans, articulated HGVs (empty or full), and car transporters.
National Highways has put in a diversion in place, with drivers of several vehicle types urged to follow the route to avoid being stuck in traffic.
The route instructs drivers of banned vehicles using the northbound A15 to head westbound on the A180, then onto the M180.
At the end of this motorway, join the M18 north, and at the end of that motorway, drivers should take the M62 eastbound and then on to the A63 eastbound.

For southbound traffic, follow the above route in reverse, with drivers needing to take the A63 west, M62 west and exit at J35 onto the M18 south. Exit at J5 and take the M180 eastbound and continue to the A180.
The agency shared: "Certain types of vehicles are more prone to the effects of strong winds. If your vehicle is susceptible to strong-wind conditions, consider delaying your journey until weather conditions improve if you can."
The closure follows a yellow weather warning by the Met Office, which issued an update about strong winds, rain and even snow across parts of the UK.
The Met Office detailed how rain feeding into eastern and northern Scotland will increasingly fall as sleet and then snow throughout today and into Wednesday.

"By Wednesday, accumulations of one to three cm are expected above 100 metres, with perhaps up to five cm in some places," it added.
At low levels, the Met Office said it expects precipitation to be a mix of rain, sleet and snow, which could lead to some small snow accumulations in places.
Strong winds at times will lead to blizzard conditions, with drifting of lying snow expected, especially in the north of the warning area.
The Met Office added: "If driving, make sure you have some essentials in your car in the event of any delays (e.g., warm clothing, food, water, a blanket, a torch, ice scraper/de-icer, a warning triangle, high visibility vest and an in-car phone charger).

The A15 Humber Bridge carries approximately 33,000 vehicles per day, with total weekly traffic capable of reaching 100,000 vehicles, a relatively low volume for its capacity.
The bridge was opened in 1981 and is used daily by cars, HGVs, cyclists and various other vehicle types. It introduced a new toll price from £1.50 to £2 for cars for non-account holders on January 30, with account holders paying £1.50.
