Emergency services have rushed to the scene of a motorway accident involving 15 vehicles shortly before midnight in Scotland.
Five people, including two children, have been taken to the hospital after the smash on the M73 motorway.
Following the accident, the M73 between J2 Baillieston Interchange and J2A Gartcosh Interchange was closed as emergency services attended the scene.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service stated that it had sent three fire appliances and a heavy rescue unit to the M73.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed that it received a call regarding a multi-vehicle road traffic accident at 11.21pm last night.
It added: "We dispatched six ambulances and two special operations response teams (SORT) to the scene.
"We transported two patients to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, two patients to the Royal Hospital for Children, and one patient to Glasgow Royal Infirmary," Sky News reported.

The spokesperson confirmed that three other patients were also treated and released at the scene.
Reports from Amey SW Trunk Roads stated that it was a "15 vehicle RTC" and suggested that motorists should avoid the area.
It added that vehicles were recovered at around 3am, while police requested a sweeper to attend the scene.

Amey SW Trunk Roads confirmed at 4am that the M73 Junction 2 carriageway had been fully reopened after the incident.
