Motorists are being encouraged to save on fuel costs before the offer ends at the end of the month

Petrol and diesel drivers are being urged to make use of a limited-time offer that could help them see significant savings the next time they fill up.

The latest data from RAC Fuel Watch shows that drivers are paying an average of 136.91p per litre for unleaded and a staggering 146.1p for diesel.

To help motorists deal with expensive fuel costs, one of the UK's largest supermarkets is offering drivers the chance to save three pence per litre of fuel.

Throughout December, drivers heading to an Asda Express store can save 3p per litre of fuel when they spend £15 or more on groceries.

Motorists can make use of the offer at more than 500 Express stores around the UK as Asda looks to help drivers struggling through the cost of living crisis.

The discount can be claimed once £15 is spent at an Asda Express store, where they will pay for their fuel and shopping at the till.

Joseph Sutton, Vice President, Asda Express, foodservice and fuel, said: "We know every penny matters for our customers.

"This offer gives people a little extra help - letting them save on fuel while offering unbeatable value as they stock up on everyday essentials or festive treats in the run-up to Christmas."

Asda recently announced plans to launch up to 20 new Express stores before the end of 2025, as part of the supermarket giant's convenience store opening programme.

The retailer opened a new Express location in Liverpool earlier this month, marking the brand's first store in the centre of the city.

Drivers can also fill up over the Christmas period with all of its petrol stations having pay-at-the-pump facilities.

Britons looking to refuel across the festive period could see alternative operating hours at their local stores, with Asda advising them to use the store locator tool on its website.

While the RAC does not forecast any significant changes in fuel prices in the near future, drivers are likely to see costs rise naturally.

Although motorists are not paying the record-high prices seen in the summer of 2022, drivers have dealt with months of steady price increases, with many citing global instability.

Data shows that Asda has the second-cheapest average fuel price of any major supermarket, with drivers paying an average of 133.8p per litre for unleaded.

Asda has launched a number of fuel discounts in recent years to help drivers adjust to fluctuating prices and adapt to higher prices as a result of the cost of living crisis.
