Motorist slapped with £200 fine and licence points for driving 'unusually slow' on M40 motorway

A motorist has been slapped with a hefty fine for driving too slowly on the motorway as police forces crack down on poor behaviour.
Thames Valley Police has taken to social media to outline its action to target motorists who are being unsafe on roads.
In one instance on Sunday (March 22), officers on patrol were checking speeds on the M40 between Thame and Bicester.
Officers from the TVP Special Constable Tasking Team identified a vehicle travelling "unusually slow" in the first lane of the motorway.

It stated that the motorist could have caused serious road issues, prompting officers to pull alongside the vehicle.
At this point, the driver could be seen using a mobile phone and attempted to conceal the device, prompting them to be slapped with a traffic offence report.
The police issued a £200 roadside fine and six penalty points to the driver of the vehicle, which was not registered in the UK.
Rule 260 of the Highway Code stated that motorists should drive at a steady cruising speed which can be handled safely within the speed limit when conditions are suitable.

While there are no specific Highway Code rules around driving too slowly, Rule 261 states that drivers must not exceed a speed limit displayed on a red circle sign or the maximum speed limit.
Thames Valley Police said: "The Roads Policing Special Constable Tasking Team were back out again today, proactively patrolling and targeting offences to keep our roads safe.
"These patrols form part of ongoing efforts to reduce risk, tackle repeat offenders, and keep all road users safe."
The Roads Policing Special Constable Tasking Team also conducted speed enforcement measures in key locations near Aylesbury.

The action resulted in several drivers exceeding the speed limit, at which point they were "dealt with accordingly".
It emphasised that speeding significantly increases the risk of serious collisions, calling on motorists to slow down and drive according to the conditions.
Officers also took action against a vehicle on the A34 in Weston-on-the-Green, around four miles from Bicester.
The vehicle was previously pulled over in February for driving in accordance with a licence.

| PATVP officers stated that it was pulled over for driving without displaying L plates and without a supervising driver, and the vehicle was seized.
Following the enforcement operation, Thames Valley Police Roads Policing team urged drivers to avoid using their phones, feature L plates and always adhere to speed limits.
Many were supportive of the measures by TVP, congratulating the officers for their efforts in keeping roads safe and cracking down on motorists flouting rules.
