The upgraded G6 will be launching in the UK in the coming months

One of the fastest-growing Chinese car brands is preparing to launch its latest electric vehicle in the UK with drivers told to expect impressive charging speeds.

Xpeng has announced the launch of the new G6, with plans for the SUV to be rolled out in the UK market during the first quarter of 2026.

This will be the most comprehensive update to Xpeng's lineup following its UK launch in February 2025, which featured a flying car prototype.

The upgraded G6 All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) Performance Black Edition model will be priced from £39,990 when it launches in the coming months.

The dual-motor AWD model produces 358kW of power and 660Nm of torque, enabling it to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 4.13 seconds.

Xpeng is also launching the G6 with improved battery technology through the use of a state-of-the-art 80.8kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery.

This eliminates the use of precious metals, including cobalt, nickel and manganese, allowing for the vehicle to be more sustainable without compromising on performance.

The Next-Gen 5C battery combines with Xpeng's 800V high-voltage SiC platform to enable "industry-leading" charging speeds at a peak power of 451kW.

Drivers will benefit from a 30 per cent increase in battery lifespan, while drivers can charge the vehicle from 10 to 80 per cent in just 12 minutes.

Xpeng has highlighted that this places the G6 among the fastest-charging EVs in its segment available on the UK market.

The new G6 will start from £39,990 for the RWD Standard Range and £44,990 for the Long Range. Prices of the dual-motor AWD Performance Black Edition will start from £49,990.

At its launch event in February earlier this year, Xpeng confirmed it would look to roll out new models over the coming years for the emerging UK market.

This includes the world's first AI-defined vehicle, the P7+, its flagship G9 SUV, and its luxury X9 seven-seater.

Speaking at the time, Dr Brian Gu, Vice Chairman and President of Xpeng, said: "Our expansion into the UK, in partnership with International Motors Ltd (IML), is a major step in Xpeng's global journey.

"With our state-of-the-art technology, ultra-fast charging, and intelligent design, we are confident that our vehicles will resonate with UK consumers who are seeking smarter, more sustainable mobility solutions."

Despite opening its order books earlier this year, Xpeng has made a positive impression on the UK market, with 750 new registrations so far.
