Labour's Electric Car Grant is set to launch in the coming weeks

Ahead of Labour's new Electric Car Grant, popular manufacturers are launching their own incentives to help drivers cut thousands of pounds off the price of a new electric vehicle.

Earlier this month, Labour unveiled the new Electric Car Grant, which will see manufacturers cut up to £3,750 off the list price of new electric vehicles, provided they cost less than £37,000.

As the final details are ironed out by Labour, brands are getting ahead of the curve and launching their own schemes to boost sales and aid drivers in leaving behind petrol and diesel vehicles.

To help motorists across the country, GB News has compiled a list of manufacturers who have introduced a grant scheme for electric vehicles.

The Swedish brand has launched a new £1,500 grant towards the cost of its EX30 SUV, bringing the price down to £31,560. Drivers can benefit from an impressive battery range of up to 295 miles and rapid-charging capabilities.

Volvo said it was fully in support of the Government's Electric Car Grant, describing it as a "vital step forward" towards a sustainable future.

Rob Deane, commercial director of Volvo Car UK, commented: "It is fantastic to see a strong surge in media attention and customer demand towards EV ownership since the Government's announcement.

"The multi award-winning Volvo EX30 is a fantastic product, which doesn't compromise between design, safety or sustainability, and we are delighted to be able to offer this enhanced EV offer for Volvo customers."

The South Korean brand has also launched a maximum discount of £3,750, with drivers being able to save at least £1,500 on its entire electric range.

Motorists can save up to £3,750 on the Hyundai Inster, while a £1,500 discount applies to other award-winning models, including the Kona, Ioniq 5 and the new Ioniq 9.

A further £500 discount is available until the end of August on the Inster and Kona, as part of Hyundai's Electrifying Summer Event.

Ashley Andrew, president of Hyundai and Genesis UK, said: "Our diverse EV portfolio means we can offer something for every driving need, from the compact and efficient Inster to our flagship Ioniq 9 seven-seat SUV.

"By providing immediate financial support through our grant programme, we're ensuring that more customers can experience the significant long-term savings that come with electric driving."

Leapmotor

The Chinese brand was the first to introduce such a scheme, with the new LEAP-GRANT helping motorists save as much as £3,750 on the C10 family SUV and £1,500 off the T03.

Leapmotor said it wanted to introduce the grant for motorists ahead of Labour's incentives, especially as the Government considers whether Chinese manufacturers are able to benefit from the grant scheme.

Speaking at the time of the announcement, Future of Roads Minister Lilian Greenwood, said Chinese automakers may not benefit because of the reliance on coal to power factories, which is not in accordance with the "Science Based Target" initiative unveiled by Labour.

The grants take the C10 down to £32,750, while the T03 retails from just £14,495, making it one of the cheapest new electric cars available on the market.

MG also said it was supportive of the Government's efforts to help more people switch to an electric vehicle, but launched a new £1,500 grant anyway.

The incentive, which applies to the MG4 and MGS5, and will be prioritised over any incentives currently offered by MG's dealer network.

Guy Pigounakis, commercial director at MG Motor UK, said the Chinese state-owned manufacturer would "seek to work constructively" with the Government to boost EV sales.

Alfa Romeo

The Italian manufacturer's only electric vehicle - the Junior Elettrica - will now start from £32,405 with the brand's £3,750 discount.

A further incentive for motorists who order the Junior Elletrica before September 30 could see them benefit from a free Ohme ePod or Home Pro EV home charger installation.

Jules Tilstone, Alfa Romeo UK's managing director, said: "To underscore the commitment Alfa Romeo has in making electrification more accessible we want to support customers with our EV grant.

"Our entire fully electric Junior range is now more appealing than ever with this incentive, which along with our existing retail offers, will help encourage Britain's drivers on their electric journey."

GWM

The "Green Grant" is being introduced by GWM UK for retail customers on its ORA 03 models, which will bring prices down even further to just £21,245.

Toby Marshall, managing director of GWM UK, said: "We don't believe our customers should have to wait for the government to decide which vehicles qualify for the EV grant.

"So, we've taken matters into our own hands and matched the £3,750 saving, available to everyone, right now, on our ORA 03 range."

The three ORA 03 model trims include the Pure, Pro and GT, with a maximum range of 260 miles and impressive technological features.

Skywell

While still a relative newcomer in the UK, Skywell is supporting customers with a £3,750 electric vehicle incentive, citing the delay to the Government's grant scheme.

This incentive brings down the price of the BE11 range, with the Nanjing-based brand's electric vehicles now starting from £27,245.

Until the end of September, drivers can also benefit from a £6,000 dealer finance deposit contribution for the BE11 SUV.
