One of the UK's most popular car brands has announced a significant change to its iconic branding as it moves towards producing cleaner vehicles.

Honda has unveiled a new "H mark" design that will be applied to its future electric vehicle and hybrid models from 2027.

The Japanese brand said the new "H" was a symbol of its automobile business, which will be rolled out across other business areas.

The new logo, which features a more slanted look than previous generations, will also be used across its dealership locations, communications initiatives and motorsport activities.

Honda noted that the new branding represented the group's plans to "tackle the period of transformation currently being experienced by the automobile industry".

It added that the manufacturer would continue to deliver new value to its customers over the coming years.

The "H mark" was first introduced in 1963 and has undergone several design changes in recent years to reflect the brand's evolution.

Honda's latest logo is being introduced to commemorate the launch of its next-generation of electric vehicles, including the highly anticipated Honda 0 Series.

The Tokyo-based manufacturer said the design embodied two outstretched hands, with the intention of combining mobility with serving the needs of its customers.

Honda currently only has one electric vehicle on the UK market, the e:Ny1, which comes equipped with rapid charging capabilities and 256 miles of battery range.

The electric car starts from £40,660, although drivers can make use of the Honda EV Grant to save an additional £3,750.

The brand focuses mainly on hybrids, including the CR-V e:PHEV plug-in, as well as hybrid models of the Jazz, HR-V, Prelude, Civic and ZR-V.

Honda confirmed last year that Great Britain would shortly become one of a handful of destinations to receive the new Super-N "Kei car".

The electric vehicle, which was debuted as a prototype at the Japan Mobility Show, is set to begin production in 2026.

Honda confirmed that the compact electric car would first launch in Japan, followed by Great Britain and Asia.

Rebecca Adamson, Head of Automobile, Honda UK, said: "The Super-N Prototype promises to offer a great entry point to Honda EV ownership when it arrives in our market next year, building on the excitement we saw for the concept model at Goodwood this summer.

"By bringing Honda's trademark 'fun-to-drive' performance to a compact all-electric model, we believe this is a unique proposition and we are excited for people to experience it from 2026."

Honda secured more than one per cent of the total market share of new vehicles in the UK last year, with 23,017 total sales.

However, this was a significant 24.87 per cent drop in year-on-year registrations for the brand, when it sold 30,636 new vehicles.
