Tesla retained its crown as the best-selling electric vehicle brand in 2025

The last 12 months saw a record number of battery electric cars sold, as almost half a million drivers got behind the wheel of a cleaner vehicle.

New data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) revealed the 10 best-selling electric vehicles available on the UK market in 2025.

Despite a tumultuous year for the brand, Tesla retained its place at the top of the rankings, with the Model Y taking the crown with more than 24,000 new registrations, followed closely behind by the Model 3 with 21,000 sales.

Other popular brands including Ford, BMW and Audi also ranked among the best-selling electric vehicles.
