The offer will be available to drivers until the end of December

Petrol and diesel drivers are set to benefit from cheaper fuel at one of the UK's most popular filling stations in a huge boost for motorists.

Asda has announced that it will offer drivers a new money-saving fuel offer at its Express stores between December 1 and 31 this year.

Motorists who spend more than £15 on groceries in an Asda Express store will save three pence per litre of fuel purchased.

Drivers can make use of the limited-time fuel offer at almost 500 Asda Express stores around the UK before the end of the month.

To claim the discount, customers will need to spend £15 or more inside the Asda Express before paying for the fuel and shopping at the till.

Asda Express stores are smaller convenience shops than the typical superstores seen around the UK, and feature exclusive offers for motorists filling up their fuel tanks.

Joseph Sutton, vice president of Asda Express, foodservice and fuel, said: "We know every penny matters for our customers.

"This offer gives people a little extra help - letting them save on fuel while offering unbeatable value as they stock up on everyday essentials or festive treats in the run-up to Christmas."

Asda recently announced that it would launch up to 20 new Express shops before the end of the year as part of an expansion of its convenience store programme.

The most recent addition was in Liverpool last week, marking the brand's first Express location in the centre of the city.

According to data from RAC Fuel Watch, drivers visiting Asda filling stations will pay an average of 133.7p per litre for petrol and 141.9p for diesel.

However, eagle-eyed motorists could make further savings with Asda locations around the UK selling unleaded for as little as 127.7p and diesel for just 132.7p.

Car owners in Northern Ireland can make even larger savings, with two Asda stores, in Coleraine and Cookstown, charging just 125.7p for unleaded petrol.

Data from the 2024 Petrol Retailers Association Market Review shows that Asda has an impressive market share of 7.8 per cent for motor fuel sales in the UK.

Asda states that its fuel meets the standards of the World Fuels Charter, which exceeds British and European requirements.

The supermarket giant, which is part-owned by American retail behemoth Walmart, has 320 petrol stations across the country.

These petrol stations will also come equipped with air pumps, car washing facilities and a convenience store.

The new Asda offer could help millions of drivers save even more money following Chancellor Rachel Reeves' decision to extend the freeze on fuel duty until September 2026.

The five pence per litre freeze was originally introduced in 2022 after the Russian invasion of Ukraine sent global oil prices spiralling.

Drivers with an average annual mileage filling up around the UK could save around £50 with the extension of the freeze.
