Charger Base for Electric Toothbrush, HYC3757A sold via TikTok

The HYC3757A electric toothbrush charger base presents a 'serious fire risk'

OPSS

The Asda alert comes as the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) recalls an electric toothbrush charger sold via TikTok Shop.

The HYC3757A charger base has been deemed unsafe due to faulty internal components that create "a serious risk of fire", officials warned.

The investigation revealed that the charger contains loose internal connections that could overheat and ignite.

Additionally, the plug displays incorrect markings indicating a 13A capacity, while containing only a 3A fuse.

TikTok has removed the hazardous listing from its platform following the OPSS findings.

Customers who purchased the product have been instructed to cease using it immediately and contact the TikTok seller for redress.

The white charging base can be identified by barcode 911014169366 and model number HYC3757A, though some listings display it as 3757. The product also carries the identifier C1049697-1001533.

It fails to meet requirements under the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 and breaches the Plugs and Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994.

Both recalls highlight the importance of taking product safety notices seriously to prevent potential fire hazards in homes.
