The former The Apprentice star kept his family involved throughout his Strictly journey

Thomas Skinner has opened up about his three children and their reaction to him being the first to be eliminated from this year's Strictly Come Dancing.

My Skinner, 34, has faced considerable backlash since being signed up to the show due to his anti-woke stance and posts of him rubbing shoulders with JD Vance.

Partnered with Amy Dowden, Mr Skinner appeared on Monday's Strictly spin-off show, It Takes Two.

He reflected on the way in which his exit has impacted his family, including his children, four-year-old Henry and two-year-old twins, Roma and Darla.

Host and former Strictly professional Janette Manrara stated: "I can imagine that you’re gutted, but how have your four biggest fans at home taken the news?"

"I ain’t told them yet," My Skinner quipped before clarifying: "I'm joking!"

On his wife Sinead and three children, he added: "Yeah, look they’re gutted, they love Amy.

"And they were watching Saturday night and last night and they’re sad bless them, but we can carry on dancing."

"Yeah you can carry on dancing, you can do it at home with them now," Ms Manrara suggested.

She added: "Let’s go back to Saturday night, Tom, you just looked like you were having the best time on the dancefloor. Did you enjoy it?"

"I was loving life. I went out there, I know I’m not the best dancer but we had such a laugh out there," the businessman stated.

"Amy, last week you mentioned Tom was waking up at 3 in the morning to go to work and then straight into training," the presenter pointed out.

"He’s worked so hard over the last few weeks, how impressed were you with all the work he’s put in?"

"I am so impressed," the Welsh dancer responded. "An absolute beginner, you know, in terms of the entertainment world - he's not an actor or a performer.

"So you know, the performances you pulled out both Saturdays, I was so proud."

Continuing, Ms Dowden beamed: "I also saw the development from day one learning it to getting it on the dancefloor, but you know what? Also, we had so much fun.

The judges unanimously decided to save Mr Robshaw and partner Nadiya Bychkova.

When asked by Tess Daly about their time on the show, Mr Skinner replied: "I’ve loved it. I’ve never danced before, and my stay was short, but Amy’s amazing."
