The Shake It Off singer has been storming the charts and taking over the music industry since 2007

Taylor Swift has officially reached billionaire status after Forbes released their 2024 billionaire list – 17 years into her music career.

Being one of the world’s biggest superstars doesn’t come easy, but it seems the hard work has paid off as she placed 14th on the Forbes list due to her $1.1billion fortune.

The 34-year-old is the most famous newcomer on the list, with the earnings based on her blockbuster Era’s tour, the value of her music catalogue and her real estate portfolio.

Swift also has huge earnings which have come from her six albums which she re-recorded in 2021 after negotiating with streaming platforms and finally monetising her music for herself.

She is a small minority in the music industry who have reached the Forbes milestone, with the Eras Tour crossing the $1bn mark, according to Pollstar’s 2023 year-end charts.

After selling 4.35 million tickets worldwide across 60 tour dates, she brought home a whopping $1.04bn.

The tour – which kicked off in March 2023 in Arizona – also came with a staggering amount of merchandise sales, totalling approximately $200million in sales.

Wanting to savour the memories, Swift also turned the tour into a film adaptation – Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour – which has allegedly pulled in $250m – making it the highest-grossing concert film of all time.

Whilst 2023 was a record year for the Cruel Summer singer, it seems 2024 will also be a successful year with many more upcoming projects.

Forbes projects that the Eras Tour will once again reach $1bn by the time the tour ends in December 2024.

Alongside her milestone tour, Swift was also named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year and Apple named her its artist of the year.

Spotify also revealed she was 2023’s most-streamed artist globally, raking in more than 26.1 billion streams since January 1 and beating Bad Bunny’s three-year record.

Elsewhere on the Forbes list, George Lucas placed number one with a net worth of $5.5bn, followed by Steven Spielberg with $4.8bn, Michael Jordan with $3.2bn and Oprah Winfrey with $2.8bn.

Forbes wealth editor Chase Peterson-Withorn spoke of the list: “It’s been an amazing year for the world’s richest people, with more billionaires around the world than ever before.

“A record-breaking 14 centibillionaires have 12-figure fortunes. Even during times of financial uncertainty for many, the super-rich continue to thrive.”
