The Euphoria star's scene has been 'removed' from the final cut

Sydney Sweeney's appearance in The Devil Wears Prada sequel has been excised from the finished film just before its premiere, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The Euphoria actress had been photographed arriving on set during production last year, prompting widespread speculation about her involvement in the highly anticipated follow-up to the 2006 hit.

Filmmakers have attributed the removal to creative considerations, with reports indicating the footage simply did not fit seamlessly within the broader narrative structure.

Despite valuing Sweeney's contribution, those behind the project ultimately determined the sequence disrupted the pacing of surrounding material.

The cut sequence ran approximately three minutes and featured Ms Sweeney portraying herself as a high-profile client receiving styling services from Emily Blunt's character, Emily Charlton, within Dior's offices.

This scene was positioned near the opening of the film, establishing Ms Blunt's character in her new role before the central plot unfolds.

In the revised version that audiences will see, the story instead opens with Andy, Miranda and Nigel travelling to Dior to seek Emily's assistance in rescuing Runway magazine from a media-driven crisis.

This streamlined approach to reintroducing Ms Blunt's character meant Sweeney's presence was ultimately deemed unnecessary.

The excised footage now exists merely as a behind-the-scenes curiosity, illustrating how tightly the sequel's storytelling has been constructed.

The sequel brings together the principal cast from the original film, with Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt all reprising their roles in the fashion-focused narrative.

The 2006 original became a cultural phenomenon, and anticipation for the follow-up has been considerable among fans eager to see the ensemble reunited.

This time, the plot centres on efforts to save Runway magazine from crisis, drawing the characters back into the glamorous yet cutthroat world of high fashion.

The production has attracted attention not only for its returning stars but also for various industry cameos, though Sweeney's removal demonstrates that not all such appearances survived the final edit.

Despite missing out on the sequel, Sweeney's professional calendar remains exceptionally busy with numerous high-profile ventures on the horizon.

The actress will return as Cassie Howard in the third series of Euphoria, the HBO drama that initially propelled her to widespread recognition.

She is also attached to a reimagining of the cult science fiction classic Barbarella, with Edgar Wright set to direct the project.
