Strictly's Amy Dowden admits she's 'closer' to show return in heartfelt cancer battle update

After being diagnosed with breast cancer in May, Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden, 33, has regularly been updating fans with how her battle with the disease is going.
Just last week Dowden was also struck down by a bout of sepsis which resulted in another terrifying hospital dash.
The dancer has undergone several procedures already, including a mastectomy and chemotherapy, and on Thursday, she revealed she was gearing up for another round of the latter.
However, despite being left in tears when she first received chemo, Dowden has been praised for her upbeat attitude towards her latest round of treatment.
Taking to Instagram, Dowden defiantly looked towards her return to the glitz and glam of Strictly after paying a visit to her co-stars earlier this.
"So grateful for my @bbcstrictly family," Dowden gushed in her latest update. "Yesterday was just what I needed ahead of today.

"I’ve felt part of the whole journey so far! I’ve seen all the group numbers and the process by videos, then again watching yesterday and WOW honestly the best yet!"
Dowden did admit it was difficult to see this year's show take shape, however, as she continued: "Yes it’s hard not being up there with them doing what I love but so proud to part of such a talented team.
"I loved being made glamorous by the hair and make up team, putting on a sparkly dress from Wardrobe and feeling like Amy again being at my favourite place!
"So very grateful! Now I’m on way to chemo number 3! Let’s hope no hospital admissions and scares after this one."
Touching on her comeback, she added: "But I’m going with a spring in my step this morning after yesterday and knowing everyday I’m closer to dancing on that floor again."
It didn't take long for fans to rush to support Dowden following her positive outlook on her situation, with many branding her an "inspiration".
Amanda Abbington, an actor who's taking part in this year's Strictly, replied to the post: "Sending you the most love. You are FABULOUS."
"So much love partner," former contestant Karim Zeroual added while last year's finalist Fleur East echoed: "Yes Amy!!! Your smile is so bright xxx."
