The band has been teasing a reunion for a couple of years

Spice Girl Mel C, real name Melanie Chisholm, has delivered her strongest indication yet that the Spice Girls could reunite to celebrate three decades since Wannabe conquered the charts.

The 52-year-old singer, speaking to Australian YouTube channel 7You, left little doubt about her enthusiasm for marking the milestone anniversary this July.

"Absolutely, it would be a crime not to," she declared when asked about potential reunion plans, with her comments sparking fresh excitement among devoted fans who have long hoped to see all five original members perform together again.

While no official announcement has been made by the group, Ms Chisholm's remarks suggest serious conversations are underway as the landmark date approaches.

The iconic debut single first reached audiences in July 1996, launching one of pop music's most successful acts, with the former Sporty Spice revealing that the quintet remains in regular contact about their future plans.

"We are constantly discussing what we would like to do," she explained during the interview.

However, reaching consensus among Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, and Melanie Brown presents an ongoing challenge, leaving the star to acknowledge that the difficulty of the group's reluctance to act stems from how much their legacy means to them.

"I think the problem that we have and the reason why we often don't get together and do things is that it's so precious to us. We don't want to do the wrong thing," she said.

"It's hard to get five people to agree, and when we do agree, it's very magical and very special, so I keep my fingers crossed that we'll be able to do something."

Beyond the anniversary celebrations, Mel C has set her sights on an even grander ambition for the group, and whilst speaking to Magic Radio, she described a Glastonbury appearance as the ultimate goal for any comeback.

"Glastonbury would be the pinnacle; it's a bucket list. Spice Girls, Pyramid Stage – I like to think that will happen at some point. I'm very strongly manifesting that it will happen," she told former publicist Nicki Chapman.

The singer emphasised that the chemistry between the five women remains undimmed by time.

"There's something about the dynamic of the Spice Girls – when we're in a room together it's electric. It still happens to this day... there is something magical about those five personalities," she observed.

Her ninth solo album, Sweat, a dance-inspired record celebrating club culture, arrives today via Virgin Music Group.

Despite many wanting the comeback to happen, each member of the group faces a demanding schedule that could complicate any reunion plans.

Ms Beckham continues to oversee her flourishing fashion label, which keeps her occupied with international events and industry showcases throughout the year.

Ms Bunton maintains her presence on British radio, presenting her weekend programme on Heart, whilst Ms Halliwell balances her writing projects and public engagements alongside her connection to Formula 1 through her husband Christian Horner.

Ms Brown faces perhaps the busiest diary, with commitments to Simon Cowell's new talent competition We're in a Band and her return to the America's Got Talent judging panel.

Despite these packed calendars, Ms Chisholm's optimistic remarks have left supporters hopeful that July might finally bring the celebration they have anticipated for years.
