The People's Channel's very own North West Reporter is taking time to recover away from screens

Sophie Reaper has been inundated with well-wishes from fans after the GB News star shared some rather significant health news.

The People's Channel favourite took to social media yesterday to reveal she's currently recuperating at home after undergoing ankle surgery.

As a result, Sophie will be taking time away from the camera and from delivering the latest headlines to GB News viewers.

However, she has assured fans that as soon as she recovers, she'll be back providing the latest updates for viewers.

Sophie first shared the news on Instagram, sharing a snap of her ankle and lower leg resting on a pillow.

Her entire lower limb has been wrapped up and is sitting in a cast. In the accompanying post, Sophie confirmed all went well with the operation.

In the Instagram post, Sophie shared: "Some news from me... I had reconstructive surgery on my ankle yesterday, which I've needed now for a long time.

"The op went really well and my surgeon was very pleased, but I'm going to be off my feet for a few weeks now whilst I recover.

"Please bear with me as I'm doing my best to switch off and relax in order to try and heal as quickly as possible.

"But I promise I haven't gone anywhere and I'll be back on @gbnews as soon as I can!!"

Sophie issued a similar statement on X alongside the same snap, writing: "Some news from me… I had reconstructive surgery on my ankle yesterday, and although it went really well, I’m going to be off my feet for a while as I recover.

"I might be a little bit quieter than usual as I heal - but I promise I’ll be back on @gbnews as soon as I can!!" (sic)
