On Monday, Scott Mills was axed from his position at BBC Radio 2 following allegations about his personal conduct, bringing an end to his nearly three-decade association with the corporation.
In the wake of his axe, the Metropolitan Police has confirmed that Mr Mills was involved in a 2016 investigation into alleged sexual offences against a teenage boy under the age of 16.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson stated to GB News on Tuesday: "In December 2016, the Met began an investigation following a referral from another police force.
Scott Mills was one of the BBC's highest paid radio stars | BBC"The investigation related to allegations of serious sexual offences against a teenage boy. These were reported to taken place between 1997 and 2000.
"As part of these enquiries, a man who was in his 40s at the time of the interview was questioned by police under caution in July 2018.
"A full file of evidence was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service, who determined the evidential threshold had not been met to bring charges."
"Following this advice, the investigation was closed in May 2019," the spokesperson concluded.

The case was therefore dropped without any charges being brought against the presenter.
The 53-year-old presenter's departure was confirmed on Monday, with the BBC stating: "While we do not comment on matters relating to individuals, we can confirm Scott Mills is no longer contracted and has left the BBC."
Mr Mills' final broadcast took place on Tuesday, March 24, when he concluded his programme by telling listeners he would return the following day.
DJ Gary Davies subsequently stepped in to cover the breakfast slot.

The Mirror, which first reported Mr Mills' dismissal, has linked his sacking to this historic police inquiry. However, there has been no official confirmation from the BBC that this is the case.
Mr Mills has not publicly responded to the allegations or his dismissal from the BBC. The corporation has declined to provide further details regarding the circumstances of his departure. GB News has contacted Mr Mills' representatives for comment.
Mr Mills began his BBC career in 1998 as Radio 1's early breakfast presenter, eventually hosting The Scott Mills Show on the station for nearly two decades.
He transitioned to Radio 2 in 2022, taking over Steve Wright's afternoon programme, before assuming the breakfast slot from Zoe Ball in January 2025.
Scott Mills is yet to publicly address his departure | PAHis salary for the year to April 2025 stood between £355,000 and £359,999, making him the corporation's 11th highest-paid talent.
Several of Mr Mills' colleagues have spoken out to address his sudden exit. Radio 2 presenter Jeremy Vine admitted to being blindsided by the news on Monday afternoon.
Dermot O'Leary, meanwhile, described his Radio 2 colleagues as a "family" before explaining to his ITV This Morning colleagues that he was "shocked" by the news.
Mr Mills' replacement, Mr Davies, refused to mention the developments on Tuesday's Radio 2 Breakfast Show, prompting some listeners to describe the broadcast as "awkward".
