The recent series of the BBC show proved to be a huge success with fans

The first season of Celebrity Traitors, which aired in October 2025, welcomed a wide array of stars to the famous castle, including the likes of comedian Alan Carr, singer Charlotte Church, broadcaster Clare Balding, broadcaster Kate Garraway, Actor Mark Bonnar, and Olympian Tom Daley.

Host Claudia Winkleman greeted the group of celebrities as they arrived at the beautiful location in the Scottish Highlands to play the ultimate reality game of detection, back-stabbing, and trust.

However, it wasn’t long before the famous faces were questioning everything and everyone as Ms Winkleman secretly assigned the Traitors.

Mr Carr, presenter Jonathan Ross, and singer Cat Burns were chosen as the Traitors and were soon tasked with sabotaging as much as they could.

It was Mr Carr who was victorious and deceived his fellow castmates and Faithfuls, winning £100,000 for his chosen charity.

After rising in popularity and the series coming to an end, fans of the show have been theorising as to who will be joining the cast for the 2026 series.

One name who has been in the running is Gavin and Stacey star Ruth Jones, with many feeling she would be the perfect candidate for a Traitor.

However, Ms Jones has set the record straight on whether she will be joining the cast or not during an appearance alongside former Faithful and presenter Mr Ross tonight.

Sitting on his sofa, she was asked whether she would ever take part in the series, to which she explained: “There was a big rumour about me doing it as well.

“The thing is I had sort of been asked about doing it and I love the show and I think it’s amazing"

“But then I thought I’ll have to put on a wetsuit and I’ll have to go in one of them lochs, I’ll get bitten by the midges. I’d rather sit in my pyjamas and watch everyone else.”

Being pushed on her upcoming TV appearances, Mr Ross asked whether the former Vanessa 'Nessa' Jenkins star would ever take part in Strictly Come Dancing.

She expressed: “I’ve been and watched Strictly, and it is amazing what people do. But it is absolutely not for me.

“They would have to pay me an absolutely ridiculous amount of money - there isn’t a figure.”

Ms Jones is marginally known for her role as the Welsh character, and recently won a Bafta for her role in the highly popular BBC series.

Touching on that moment, she explained: “Oh gosh. Well, I didn’t hear my name properly. The only reason I knew I’d won was because Rob Brydon and Jo Page were quite hysterical.

“They were going, ‘Yes yes!’ and it was a bit like the barn dance episode in Gavin and Stacey when Rob Brydon goes, ‘Surprise surprise!’

“I went up and because genuinely I didn’t think I was going to win, and I’m not doing that humble brag thing, I’d taken my shoes off and I was sort of settled in for the night.

“And then when they called my name, I had to go up barefoot which I kind of quite liked. Very freeing.”
