Fans and co stars came to the defence of Rosie Jones after the cruel attacks

Rosie Jones has hit out at cruel trolls and branded them 'abelist' after being slammed as 'sluggish and unsuitable for her Big Fat Quiz of the Year appearance.

The comedian, 33, appeared on the Channel 4 show with Katherine Ryan, Mo Gilligan and Mel Giedroyc.


Following her appearance Rosie was attacked by cruel online trolls, many of whom insisted she was there for Channel 4 'box ticking'.

In response, Jones took to Twitter to hit out, she wrote: "Rinse and repeat.

"Different telly show, same old ableism.

"Thanks for the support, but I’m gonna lie low for a bit and sink into the perineum of Christmas and New Year."

Fans were quick to share their support of the star.

One wrote: "You were fab on both shows!!...

"I thought you were brilliant. Keep going... Sorry to hear this Rosie - keep your spirits up although I know it’s hard to do so - wishing you all the best."

Jones was also attacked by social media trolls after her appearance on the Royal Variety Performance.

She also hit back at criticism at the time: "Thank you for all of the lovely messages about The Royal Variety last night, what fun.

"Less of a thanks to the not so lovely ones.

"Comedy is subjective and it's ok if I'm not your cup of tea. But please remember the difference between personal preference and downright ableism."
