The Channel 4 presenter's mother and father tragically died following a fatal car accident

Location, Location, Location star Phil Spencer was joined by his loved ones this past weekend as they bid farewell to his parents.

His parents David, 89, and Anne, 82 died last month when their car was involved in a fatal car accident and ended up in a river at their farm.


Updating his fanbase on how his parents' funeral went, Spencer thanked fans for their outpouring of support while reflecting on his goodbyes to his mum and dad.

"When we buried Mum and Dad on Friday, and celebrated their lives with a Memorial service on Saturday, we had many Thank yous to say to our community in Kent," Spencer began in an Instagram post shared on Thursday.

Alongside two photos of David and Anne, he continued: "But I wanted to say a very large thank you beyond that, for the dozens of bunches of flowers, hundreds of letters and cards, and thousands of kind and thoughtful messages I’ve received over the last few weeks.

"The shock and sadness is immense, but I’d like you to know it has been diluted by such huge support from so many friends and followers.

"My family and I have appreciated every single kind word, message and prayer sent our way - thank you SO SO much.

"They have helped to bring some smiles and laughter in amongst our sadness.

"We continue to give thanks for, and at times are even managing to be able to celebrate, the fact that Mum and Dad were able to live, to love and then to leave their beloved farm together.

"None of us get to choose how we depart this world - but as a family we know in our heart of hearts that to go side by side next to your partner of 60 years is a beautiful thing.

"It would 100% have been what they would have wished for, and so we accept it in its entirety, and we thank God for his presence and for his remarkable plan," he signed off.

Spencer's Location, Location, Location co-host Kirstie Allsopp was in attendance and took to the comments of her friend's post to share her own input.

She commented: "I was so struck at the service on Saturday by the enormous affection & respect for your Mum & Dad from those on and around the farm.

"They were so proud of you all, and you can be so proud to have had them as parents.

"They lived kind & worthwhile lives, and that knowledge is in itself a blessing and an example. xxx."

While a number of other stars were also quick to share their condolences and messages of support alongside Allsopp in the social media post's comments.

Jenni Falconer replied: "Such beautiful words and such a heartbreaking loss. Sending much loss to you and your family Phil."

While presenter Amanda Lamb weighed in: "So beautifully written Phil… and what beautiful photographs of a truly special couple… Sending you all so much love…. Xx." (sic)

Elsewhere, fellow TV presenter Ben Fogle showed his support as he commented a love-heart emoji.

His statement regarding his parent's funeral comes just days after he returned to work alongside Allsopp on new episodes of Location, Location, Location.
