The Beckhams' ongoing feud has escalated in recent weeks

Nicola Peltz has shared what many interpret as a thinly-veiled comment on her strained relationship with the Beckham family, posting a quote from Brigitte Bardot following the French icon's death at 91.

"If I could do anything about the way people behave towards each other, I would, but since I can't I'll stick to the animals," the actress shared on her Instagram Stories.

The timing of the post raised eyebrows, coming amid escalating tensions between her husband Brooklyn and his parents Sir David and Victoria Beckham.

Ms Peltz accompanied the quote with an image of Ms Bardot alongside a deer, ostensibly as a tribute to the late actress-turned-animal-rights-activist who passed away on December 28.

Brooklyn Beckham opted to celebrate the festive season with his wife and her billionaire parents Nelson and Claudia Peltz in Miami, rather than joining his own family's gatherings.

The 26-year-old and Nicola shared photographs on Instagram showing the couple in matching red pyjamas, posing beside a Christmas tree with her parents.

"We wish everyone a merry Christmas and a happy New Year filled with so much love, peace, and happiness," the pair wrote in their joint caption.

Sir David and Victoria were conspicuously absent from the celebrations, instead spending the holiday with their youngest son Cruz in the UK.

On Christmas Eve, Brooklyn posted an image of himself holding Nicola's hand, captioning it "My everything x" and displaying his tattoo reading "Beautiful girl Nicola."

The couple were also notably absent from Holly Ramsay's wedding to Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty at Bath Abbey on Saturday, an event attended by the rest of the Beckham clan.

Sir David, Victoria, Romeo, Cruz and Harper were all present to watch the 25-year-old bride marry the 31-year-old athlete, whilst Brooklyn remained thousands of miles away in Los Angeles.

Rather than joining the celebration, Brooklyn shared an image of one of his rescue dogs sporting a Grinch-themed hat.

He was also spotted playing tennis with American professional Reilly Opelka and Nicola's brother Bradley, sharing clips of the match on Instagram Stories.

The Beckhams and Ramsays have maintained a close friendship since the early 2000s, with sources suggesting the Ramsays operate an "open door" policy regarding Brooklyn.

The family rift came into sharper focus when Cruz took to social media to address reports that his parents had unfollowed Brooklyn on Instagram.

"NOT TRUE. My mum and dad would never unfollow their son... Let's get the facts right. They woke up blocked... as did I," the 20-year-old clarified.

According to reports, Brooklyn grew frustrated with Victoria liking his posts, which prompted fans to raise questions about the rumoured estrangement.

The tensions reportedly intensified in April over Romeo's then-girlfriend Kim Turnbull, who had allegedly previously dated Brooklyn briefly.

Brooklyn and Nicola failed to attend Victoria's Paris Fashion Week show in June, reportedly due to Turnbull's presence, and also missed Sir David's 50th birthday celebrations in May.

The couple's August vow renewal ceremony, officiated by Nelson Peltz, featured no Beckham family members in the published photographs.
