The Love Island and Strictly stars have been together since 2022

Love Island star Chyna Mills has publicly accused her future mother-in-law Helen of subjecting her to racism, bullying and persistent disrespect throughout her relationship with Strictly Come Dancing professional Neil Jones.

The 27-year-old reality television personality made the explosive claims on Instagram following her daughter Havana's baptism on Monday.

Ms Mills alleged the mistreatment began from the very first meeting with Jones' mother and has continued ever since.

"I've faced bullying, racism and constant disrespect from a so-called MIL since the moment I met her," she wrote in a statement posted to her Instagram Stories.

The former Love Island contestant claimed she attempted to address the situation directly this year, offering her mother-in-law an opportunity to discuss their differences, but said her efforts were rebuffed.

The christening ceremony took place without any members of the 43-year-old dancer's family in attendance, according to Ms Mills.

She claimed his relatives stayed away as an act of solidarity with his mother, refusing to acknowledge the difficulties that had developed over recent years.

Despite the family tensions, the occasion was marked by the presence of close friends and colleagues from the BBC dance programme.

Fellow Strictly professional Lauren Oakley served as one of Havana's godmothers and featured prominently in photographs from the day.

The couple shared images on their joint Instagram account showing their daughter in a traditional white christening gown, surrounded by her godparents.

"Such a special day surrounded by the people who love her most," they captioned the post, thanking friends and Ms Mills' family for celebrating with them.

The reality star stated she had exhausted all options in attempting to forge connections with her partner's relatives, but her overtures were never returned.

"I've done everything I could to build relationships, yet nothing was ever reciprocated," she wrote.

The model made clear she would not tolerate criticism or misleading accounts surrounding significant moments in her child's life.

"I won't accept negative comments or false narratives on my baby girl's special moments," she declared.

Ms Mills emphasised that her daughter's wellbeing remained her sole priority, adding: "All that matters is Havana being surrounded by love. Her happiness comes first. Always."

Neither Mr Jones nor his family have issued any public response to the allegations.

Mr Jones and Ms Mills began their relationship in August 2022 after the dancer contacted her via Instagram following her appearance on Love Island.

The couple announced their engagement and pregnancy simultaneously in April 2023, with Mr Jones having proposed during a holiday in Bali. Their daughter Havana arrived in October that year.

This is not the first occasion Ms Mills has spoken publicly about protecting her child from hostility.

She previously wrote for Metro about the torrent of hurtful messages she received regarding photographs of Havana, including comments questioning the baby's racial identity.

"Reading those comments broke me," she wrote at the time, describing her devastation at people targeting an infant.

The family revelations also follow a difficult period for Mr Jones, who recently announced the death of his father David.
