Nadiya Hussain opened up on her BBC show cancelation

"I kind of like, accepted in my head that I was very BBC. They've got me exactly where they want me," she recalled.

The cooking expert went on: "Utterly unbiased. Neutral. I am not neutral.

"I have opinions and I have things to say. They’ll keep you 'till you’re of no use to them. And I think that’s what happened.

"My husband and I always spoke about it, and he just said, 'There’s going to be a point where they’re not going to need you anymore.'

"And the second you don’t fit the box… there’ll be no space for you. And I suppose I don’t fit that space anymore."

"My show got great ratings, I can't see why my show wasn't recommissioned.

"I decided just to do a social media post and say that the BBC have decided to no longer commission my show, and I did that off my own back. I chose to put that post out because that's what the truth is.

"I got an email saying that this is a proposed statement and I think Nadiya should say, 'I no longer ant to do my show on the BBC because I'm focusing on different projects.' I said, 'That's not the truth, though.'"

Hussain also described the horrible online abuse she received from trolls.

At one point, she noted: "The production team lived in my house because of the death threats, very graphic emails about they'd like me to die, how they'd like to abuse me, how they wish that my children would get TB and die slow and painful deaths - I'll never forget it.

"[It was] To the point where the police sat in our house and said, 'I cannot read these out to you because they are so graphic'. And that has continued for 10 years, and nobody knows that."

In another part of the interview, she addressed the racism she faced, commenting: "Would I have had this treatment if I was the white version of me? Absolutely not.

"And what I get all the time is 'she's playing the race card'. I'm not playing a card, it's a card I was dealt. It's the one I carry with me every single day."
