Former Smiths frontman Morrissey has called off performances scheduled for this weekend in Connecticut and Massachusetts following what his representatives describe as a credible threat against his life.
The 66-year-old singer was set to appear at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket on Friday evening and Boston's MGM Music Hall at Fenway on Saturday.
Both venues were notified of the cancellations on Friday, with official statements citing safety concerns for the performer and attendees.
The decision follows the arrest of Noah Castellano, a 26-year-old from Ottawa, who allegedly posted a detailed threat to kill the British musician on the social media platform Bluesky earlier this month.

According to court documents cited by the Ottawa Citizen, Castellano posted the threat on September 4 under an account called "guy who gets shot in the head one hundred thousand times a day".
The message read: "Steven Patrick Morrissey when you perform at TD Place here in Ottawa next week on the evening of September 12th, 2025 at about 9pm, I will be present at the venue in the audience and I will attempt to shoot you many times and kill you with a very large gun that I own illegally."

Police detained Castellano on September 12 and charged him with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
Despite the explicit threat, Morrissey's performance at Ottawa's CityFolk festival on September 12 proceeded without incident.

Castellano secured release after posting $5,000 bail and must now reside at his father's residence in the Washington DC area.
When contacted by the Ottawa Citizen regarding the charges, Castellano declined to provide any statement, responding simply: "I'm not interested."

The Manchester-born performer had already completed subsequent concerts in Toronto on September 13 and New York's Radio City Music Hall on September 16 before the weekend cancellations were announced.
His management confirmed that all ticket holders for the cancelled performances would receive automatic refunds through their original purchase channels.
The singer's representatives posted on social media that the cancellations were made "out of an abundance of caution" following "recent events", though they did not specify whether additional threats had been received beyond Castellano's post.
Morrissey remains scheduled to continue his world tour with a performance in Philadelphia on Tuesday, followed by dates across the United States before travelling to Mexico for a show on October 31.
The weekend cancellations occurred against a backdrop of heightened security concerns at public events, coming just over a week after conservative activist Charlie Kirk was fatally shot during a speaking engagement in Utah on September 10.
