The GB News regular announced the sad passing of her sibling earlier this month

The brother of GB News contributor Lizzie Cundy died from a sudden heart attack at the age of 65, a source close to the star's family has confirmed.

Peter Cundy was discovered by his 91-year-old mother, Gloria, after he had been dead for at least a day at his home last week.

The television personality's sibling suffered a fatal cardiac arrest while alone, with his elderly mother later finding him when she went to check on him.

A source close to the family revealed that relatives had been anxiously awaiting confirmation of what caused Peter's death before receiving the news from the coroner.

The devastating discovery is said to have left the Cundy family shaken, particularly Gloria, who made the tragic find.

"After speaking with the coroner today, they have been told it was a sudden heart attack," a source close to the family told The Sun.

The source added: "He is most likely to have been dead for at least a day before being found by his elderly mum.

"It's devastating, but his relatives have found comfort in the fact there was nothing they could have done to save him," the source said.

He was also a cherished uncle to Lizzie's two sons, Josh and James.

Lizzie, 57, announced her brother's passing last week through an emotional post on Instagram, where she shared a black-and-white photograph of Peter with her 82,900 followers.

The TV and radio presenter described her sibling as "a real character and a kind soul who will be very much missed."

In her heartfelt tribute posted on Instagram, Lizzie wrote: "It is with a heavy heart and great sadness to tell you that my brother Peter has died."

The 57-year-old continued: "We as a family are heartbroken. Peter was a much loved son, brother and uncle."
