Kevin Clifton shares emotional tribute to former BBC Strictly colleague who died after cancer battle

The dancer's post prompted further tributes from fans and celebs

Kevin Clifton has paid an emotional tribute to a former BBC Strictly colleague who died following a battle with cancer.

Mr Clifton, who featured in the show as a professional dancer from 2013 to 2019, shared the news on social media with a heartbreaking update.


Mr Clifton, 43, paid tribute to Strictly producer Jonathan Clough, who died of a brain tumour.

He was diagnosed with Grade 4 Glioblastoma in 2024 at the age of 35.

As well as the popular dance competition series, Mr Clough had also worked on The Apprentice and Gogglebox.

Sharing two photos of Mr Clough, Mr Clifton captioned the post: "An amazing friend, an amazing man, an amazing father and a heck of a fighter for his amazing family. I will miss you forever."

The devastating post prompted further tributes to flood in from both famous faces and fans, with partner and presenter Stacey Dooley sharing a comment beneath the photos.

The media personality simply left a heart emoji, while one follower penned: "Heck of a man who will be missed so very much."

"Sending so much love Kev," another Instagram user shared.

"Sorry for your loss," another shared, while a fourth added: "I'm so sorry. Sending hugs and comfort."

"I am so sorry Kev. Losing a friend so young is absolutely devastating. Sending you so much love and condolences. Take care pal," another offered.

Someone else penned: "Jonathan was one of a kind, its just too sad Loads of love xx."

"May your friend have the peace he deserves now. Mind yourself Kev, loss is very heavy," someone else added.

One more shared: "Love and condolences to you all." (sic)

Mr Clifton lifted the Glitterball Trophy in 2018 after finishing runner-up four times in previous series.

His 2018 win was alongside wife Stacey Dooley. The pair began their relationship the following year.

The pair welcomed a baby daughter together, who was born in 2023.

In March 2020, Mr Clifton announced he'd be leaving Strictly Come Dancing to focus on other career opportunities.

Since leaving the show, Mr Clifton has starred in stage productions, including UK tours of Strictly Ballroom and Chicago.
