A close friend of Kaye Adams has branded the presenter's departure from BBC Scotland as an "ageist, sexist stitch-up," claiming the broadcaster manufactured reasons to remove her.
The 63-year-old Loose Women panellist will not return to her £155,000-a-year morning radio programme following a disciplinary investigation that upheld three misconduct allegations.
According to a source close to Ms Adams, the decision defies logic given her track record.
They stated: "Her ratings are really good - the highest on BBC Scotland."

Speaking to The Sun, the source continued: "She's worked there for 15 years without issue, and at ITV without complaints since 1999. Are we to believe she has suddenly become a different person?"
The friend insisted that Ms Adams departs "with her head held high and conscience clear."
The upheld allegations include claims that Ms Adams used the C-word against a colleague during a heated exchange 14 years ago, threw a pen at a producer, and belittled an intern's professional abilities.
Two separate bullying complaints were not upheld.

Her friend dismissed the accusations, telling the publication: "The C-word allegation, which she categorically denies saying, relates to a heated exchange 14 years ago, dealt with at the time, so why dig it up again?"
Regarding the pen-throwing claim, the source pointed out that Ms Adams works alone in the radio booth and allegedly threw the object in frustration when a news jingle interrupted a sensitive caller conversation.
"Is the BBC seriously suggesting a couple of frustrated exchanges is worth someone losing their job?" the friend questioned.
Elsewhere, presenter and GB News regular Cristo Foufas has also stepped in to defend Ms Adams.

The BBC declined to comment when approached by GB News, as the broadcaster doesn't issue comments on individual matters.
Ms Adams was taken off air from her morning programme in October and has since spoken candidly about the toll the investigation has taken on her.

Kaye Adams denied the allegations against her
| PAOn her podcast How To Be 60, she described experiencing "the most wretched" time and admitted to struggling with sleep since her suspension.
"I tell you what I'm finding hard is not sleeping because I love my sleep and I'm not sleeping so well," she told co-host Karen MacKenzie.
Ms Adams continues to appear on ITV's Loose Women, which has publicly supported her throughout the ordeal.
The complaints against Ms Adams are understood to have been made through the BBC's Call It Out initiative, an anti-harassment scheme established following the Gregg Wallace scandal, in which the former MasterChef presenter was dismissed after 45 allegations about his conduct were upheld.
