Emmerdale's April Windsor actress Amelia Flanagan has exclusively hinted at some hope for the down-on-her-luck character.
After youngster April endured an endless string of tragedies in 2025, Ms Flanagan told GB News that things could change for her this year.
However, she conceded that the road to brighter things wouldn't be entirely smooth.
April, portrayed by Ms Flanagan since 2014, found herself involved in several horrific plotlines throughout the year, including a harrowing homelessness and pregnancy storyline.

Speaking to GB News at this week's TV Choice Awards, the 17-year-old revealed when asked if April would find some happiness this year: "Yeah, I think so."
Praising the handling of the difficult storylines, she added: "You know, we've obviously seen Cecilia and Ray's deaths, and the aftermath of that, and that relief that she's not stuck and trapped in that situation anymore.
"But obviously, getting over the trauma that she's been through, and everything else, which is so important.
"And I think it's really important that we've not pushed it, and we've kind of let it play out realistically, because these things don't get better overnight in real life."

April's troubles began when she discovered she was pregnant and subsequently fled from home, despite having a supportive family network, including her father and stepmother Rhona (Zoe Henry).
The situation turned tragic when April delivered a stillborn baby.
Her ordeal deepened further when she became entangled with criminals Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) and Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths).
The pair manipulated both April and her boyfriend, Dylan Pender (Fred Kettle), through fabricated debts, ultimately grooming the teenagers into drug dealing.

The criminal scheme took an even darker turn when Celia forced April into attending prostitution appointments.
During one such encounter, April refused to have sex with a client named Callum (Andrew Whipp).
When Callum would not accept her rejection, he attacked her. In a moment of terror, April grabbed a vodka bottle and struck him over the head. The aftermath left the teenager convinced she had killed the man.
This belief drove her further into the grip of Ray and Celia, who handled the cleanup and used the incident to tighten their control over her.

Viewer reaction to April's storylines has been divided. Some fans on Reddit described the writing as "insufferable" and "unbelievable."
One commenter stated on social media that they eventually fast-forwarded through any scenes featuring April, Marlon, and Rhona.
Others criticised how the character speaks to her father, with one viewer writing: "She treats Marlon and Rhona like s***.
"There is no reason for her to do half of what she does; she is entitled and bratty."
However, some defended the portrayal, arguing that a teenager who has experienced such significant trauma would naturally struggle.
