Adam Peaty's mother and other family members accused the chef of feeling they are 'beneath' him

Loose Women presenter Jane Moore has come to Gordon Ramsay's defence following allegations that the celebrity chef considers Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty's family "beneath" his social standing.

The television personality dismissed suggestions that class snobbery lies behind the bitter dispute between the Ramsay and Peaty families ahead of Holly Ramsay's wedding to the three-time Olympic gold medallist.

Writing in her column, Ms Moore drew on years of personal experience with the fiery chef, insisting he has never displayed snobbish tendencies.

She recounted occasions when her former husband worked closely with Mr Ramsay, describing regular social gatherings with the chef and his wife, Tana.

Ms Moore emphasised that whatever has caused the dramatic breakdown in relations between the two families, it cannot be attributed to Mr Ramsay believing the Peatys are "not good enough" to associate with.

The family feud has erupted into public view, with Mr Peaty's relatives launching scathing attacks on both the swimmer and his bride-to-be.

Caroline Peaty, the 59-year-old nursery manager, was conspicuously absent from Holly's hen celebrations at Soho Farmhouse, where guests included Victoria Beckham and the aforementioned Tana.

The swimmer's aunt, Louise Williams, took to Instagram with a blistering message directed at Holly, writing: "@hollyramsayy I'm so glad that you had a great hen do.

"As a bride, you deserve that. However, as a person you were divisive and hurtful towards a woman, who I have loved and continue to love deeply."

Ms Williams accused Holly of deliberately excluding Ms Peaty whilst inviting "your mum's assistant, your sisters, your friends, my niece".

She also branded her nephew a "narcissist", claiming he feels "ashamed" of his brothers.

Ms Moore highlighted Mr Ramsay's working-class background and difficult upbringing to counter claims of elitism.

She noted that the chef began his career washing dishes and has never forgotten his challenging journey to success.

The Loose Women star revealed that Mr Ramsay's father, Gordon Senior, was an alcoholic whose behaviour created an "hopelessly itinerant" childhood for the family.

She disclosed that Mr Ramsay's mother, Helen, suffered violent beatings, whilst his brother Ronnie struggled with drug addiction.

Ms Moore recalled how Mr Ramsay once prepared Angel Delight from a packet on Christmas Day when her ex-husband expressed distaste for "fancy puddings".

She observed that despite his habit of playfully mocking fellow celebrity chefs, Mr Ramsay consistently showed respect and courtesy towards junior restaurant staff.

Ms Moore identified Ms Peaty's direct message to Holly regarding engagement party guest lists as a pivotal moment in the family breakdown.

The swimmer's mother revealed in an interview that she had questioned Holly about why certain Peaty family members weren't included in the celebration, rather than addressing her concerns with her son.

She stated that Mr Peaty "didn't take kindly to me sending that message", adding: "He's in Gordon's clutches. I can't help but feel like they're pulling him away from me."

Ms Moore suggested this approach was misguided, observing that attempting to create conflict between a child and their partner inevitably backfires.
