Archie Lyndhurst was honoured during a sweet moment in the opening episode of Paramount's Frasier reboot after his father Nicholas Lyndhurst joined the cast.
Alongside the flagship series' main star Kelsey Grammer, Lyndhurst stars in the sitcom as show newcomer Alan, a British professor at the local college.
The Only Fools and Horses star's son tragically died in September 2022 following a brain hemorrhage caused by acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Like his father, Lyndhurst's son had taken his first steps into acting before his death having starred alongside his dad in the BBC's So Awkward while he also appeared in Bad Education alongside comedian Jack Whitehall.
Lyndhurst's wife Lucy said in a statement at the time that her son's death had a "catastrophic effect" on the family and that "as his parents, we couldn’t be prouder of him for all he achieved in the short time he was given".
With Lyndhurst making a return to the small screen in Frasier, show bosses took the opportunity to pay tribute to Archie before the credits rolled on the first episode.

The reboot also paid homage to former Frasier script supervisor Gabrielle James and Martin Crane actor John Mahoney at the same time.
In the first episode's final moments, writing appeared on-screen which read: "In loving memory of Gabrielle James and Archie Lyndhurst."
A clip of Mahoney on the set of the original Frasier then played as he touchingly said: "It all works out."
After witnessing the tribute to Lyndhurst's son, a number of Frasier viewers took to the web to praise the show for its touching dedication.
One Paramount+ viewer said on X, formerly known as Twitter: "Archie Lyndhurst getting an in memoriam at the end of episode 1 was a nice tribute #Frasier."
While a second echoed, albeit with a negative review of the episode itself: "Predictably disappointed with the first episode of the new Frasier.
"The dedications at the end were lovely though, nice that they mentioned Nicholas Lyndhurst's son. Hope the series will get better, but the original is untouchable in terms of humour and class #Frasier."
And a third concurred: "So, episode 1 of #Frasier is done. Pleasantly surprised so far but I did think it was a little too ‘big’ acting-wise.
"Perhaps because I've been watching Ghosts… The tribute to Archie Lyndhurst and John Mahoney was nice, though. I kind of want this series to work. On to episode 2."

Alongside the tribute to his son, Lyndhurst was also inundated with praise as fans complimented his switch from Peckham plonker Rodney to Boston-based boffin, Alan.
One X user said: "Wasn't sure about the new Frasier at first but by the end of the second episode I'm hooked!
"Nicholas Lyndhurst is amazing, as he always is and it's so lovely to have Kelsey Grammer back. Loved the nod to Martin Crane. #Frasier has been missed!"
Another praised Lyndhurst: "Watched the 2 new episodes of #Frasier last night, it was good to see KG still has it.
"Lyndhurst was probably the better of the new characters. Couldn’t take to Niles son David. But early days for the show."
And a third simply put: "Great to see Nicholas Lyndhurst on the box again. #Frasier." (sic)
Lyndhurst isn't the only Only Fools legend to make a return to screens this year as fans were left gobsmacked at Denzil star Paul Barber looked barely recognisable in his newest role on the big screen.
