The GB News presenter expressed his concerns for the inaccessibility of electric cars

Eamonn Holmes has declared that "nothing about electric cars is attractive" as he outlined his key reasons for not wanting to buy one.

Speaking to cohost Nana Akua, the GB News broadcaster admitted that although he "wants to do the right thing" and buy one, there are many issues with owning an electric vehicle.

Eamonn stated: "The Government are really trying to encourage them and all that sort of thing. Now, look, I would like to do the right thing, I would like to go out there and buy an electric car, but I'm not going to.

"I'm just not going to. There's nothing about them that makes them attractive to me and what I need a car for."

Outlining the main reasons for needing his car, Eamonn questioned the ability of electric cars to travel long distances: "For instance, I drive to a lot of football, I go to a lot of football. So that's London to Manchester.

"So I'm going to have to sit and go, 'well, how far can I get out of London?' I can get to Manchester, maybe, but can I get back? Or if I haven't got enough charge, will it get me there in time for kick off?"

Agreeing with Eamonn, Nana pointed out that electric cars only run on "one source of power", so using elements such as heating and the radio will also be restricted.

Nana told Eamonn: "The thing is, the distance is not a true sense of how far you can actually travel in the car anyway, because of using other things such as the heating.

Eamonn questioned the ability of electric cars to drive long distances

"I've been in people's electric cars where they've gone 'there's no heating', and when I ask why, they say 'because it's an electric car, I've got to save it'."

As Eamonn asked "so you can't have the radio on?", Nana added: "No, you can't do lots of things because it's one source of power."

Expressing her own concerns for owning an electric car as a woman, Nana told GB News viewers: "The problem with electric cars is that as a woman, if I stop at a petrol station, I don't want to sit there for half an hour to 45 minutes.

"Especially if it's late at night. This is something designed by a man, for a man. It is absolutely designed by a man. No woman would design an electric car."

Delivering his verdict on things he believes are also "designed by a man", Eamonn told Nana: "Hotel rooms are definitely designed by man, there's no doubt.

"Because if I am with another woman who says 'where is the plug by the mirror?', there's never a plug by the mirror so that they can dry their hair or put their makeup on or whatever."

Agreeing with Eamonn, Nana said: "Sometimes you go in the hotel room and there's no full size mirror. It's like it's designed by a man!"

Eamonn then concluded: "It's designed by a man who doesn't want to look at himself and admire himself."
