The footballing icon has extended an olive branch to his eldest child despite snubbing him in his 2025 round-up post

Sir David Beckham has reached out to his eldest son, Brooklyn, directly as he posted a series of heartfelt throwback photographs featuring the budding chef on his Instagram Stories on New Year's Eve.

The gesture came just hours after eagle-eyed followers spotted the 26-year-old's conspicuous absence from his father's 2025 highlights reel.

"I love you all so much," the 50-year-old former footballer wrote alongside a black-and-white image showing himself with a young Brooklyn, their cheeks pressed together.

A subsequent post displayed a family photograph taken around the time of daughter Harper's birth, showing Victoria curled up on a sofa with all four children.

"You are my Life," David captioned the image, adding five white heart emojis. He concluded with the message: "I love you all, Love Daddy x. On to 2026."

Victoria appeared to echo her husband's sentiment as she later reposted the Brooklyn photograph to her own Story, adding only a heart gif.

The emotional tribute arrived against a backdrop of mounting family tension that has dominated much of 2025.

Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz, have been notably absent from a string of significant Beckham family occasions throughout the year.

The couple failed to attend any of David's three 50th birthday celebrations and did not publicly acknowledge the milestone on May 2.

They were also missing from David's investiture ceremony when King Charles bestowed his knighthood, an honour the former England captain has described as deeply meaningful to him.

Victoria's Netflix documentary premiere was another event the pair skipped, as were the family's winter holiday gatherings.

The rift is reported to have originated around the time of Brooklyn and Nicola's 2022 wedding, though conflicting accounts about its precise cause have emerged.

The situation escalated dramatically in the weeks before Christmas when Cruz Beckham publicly contradicted tabloid reports suggesting his parents had unfollowed Brooklyn on social media.

"NOT TRUE. My mum and dad would never unfollow their son," the 20-year-old wrote on his Instagram Story.

"Let's get the facts right. They woke up blocked... as did I." (sic)

The revelation confirmed that Brooklyn had taken the decision to cut off digital contact with his parents and siblings, rather than the other way around.

A source told Us Weekly in October that Brooklyn had "no interest in mending things at this time" and was "really focused on living a peaceful, drama-free life with Nicola."

The insider added that relationships between Brooklyn and his family "are all still strained."

Across the Atlantic, Brooklyn and Nicola have shared photographs of their Christmas celebrations in Los Angeles, posing in matching pyjamas and wishing followers "a merry Christmas and a happy new year filled with so much love, peace and happiness."

The festive post attracted pointed criticism from followers keen to see a reconciliation among the family.
