Dave Myers died last month following a battle with cancer and while the series, Go West, was still airing

Dave Myers and Si King’s final Hairy Bikers adventure will conclude on screens tonight, and as expected, the ending packs a poignant punch in light of Myers’ death at 66.

The cooking duo have worked together for decades and it’s always been clear they share a genuine closeness, and the final monologue by the pals at the end of the episode gave a heartbreaking demonstration of their rare friendship.

As the concluding episode comes to an end, a reel of the duo’s final series is shown, with both men reflecting on their journey and Myers’ health battle.

“We planned to go west mate, and we’ve made it,” King states, to which Myers adds: “We have, and it’s been tough at times.”

“I had chemotherapy all the time we’ve been filming,” the late star reflected, admitting: “It hasn’t been easy… [but] we’ve got there, and it’s just a wonderful feeling.”

In another clip, Myers is heard commenting: “Being here today with you, you know, I long for it.”

“And we’ve done it, and more importantly, he’s done it,” an emotional King continues, moved by his pal's resilience.

Getting tearful, the 57-year-old chokes: “I’m his mate and I love him like family and a brother. It’s… I’m just lost for words. It’s quite remarkable, what he’s done.”

In another throwback from the series, Myers beams: “It’s a dream come true, Kingy," as the duo took in the scenery on one of their trips.

“Who knows what the future holds?” Myers wonders as he delivers a monologue to the camera before smiling: “But for the moment, I’m living in the present and it’s pretty fine, I tell you.”

“We’ve had a blast - lovely landscapes, friends and great food,” King adds as the episode draws to a close.

The pair didn’t know at the time that the instalment would mark their final adventure together, and fans have been left heartbroken by the series coming to an end.

Myers announced in 2022 that he’d been diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer and frequently updated his fans on his treatment and progress.

He died at the end of February, with his close friend and co-star announcing the news with a moving post on social media.

“Most of you will know Dave has been fighting cancer for the past couple of years,” he began.

"Last night, on 28th February 2024, with Lili, Dave’s wife, his family, close friend David and myself by his side, he passed away peacefully at home.

"All who knew Dave are devastated at his passing. His beloved wife brought him such happiness as did her children, Iza and Sergiu who Dave loved like his own. Personally, I am not sure I can put into words on how I feel at the moment.

"My best friend is on a journey that for now, I can’t follow. I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime.

"I wish you god’s speed brother; you are and will remain a beacon in this world. See you on the other side. Love ya.” (sic)
