The singer initially ignored the accusations against herself and her team

Pascal Duvier, the 53-year-old security guard at the centre of the controversy involving Chappell Roan and Jude Law's daughter, has spoken out for the first time about the incident.

In a statement posted to Instagram on Wednesday evening, Mr Duvier accepted complete responsibility for what occurred on 21st March at a São Paulo hotel.

"I take full responsibility for the interactions on March 21st," he wrote. "I was at the hotel on behalf of another individual, and I was not part of the personal security team of Chappell Roan."

The bodyguard emphasised that his actions "were not on behalf of Chappell Roan, her personal security team, her management, or any other individuals."

His statement corroborates the singer's earlier claims that he was not employed by her.

Mr Duvier explained that his decision to approach the mother and child stemmed from intelligence gathered at the hotel, combined with incidents he had observed in the preceding days.

"I made a judgment call based on information we obtained from the hotel, events I had witnessed in the days prior and the heightened overall security risk of our location," he stated.

The bodyguard maintained that his exchange with Catherine Harding, the mother of 11-year-old Ada, was conducted appropriately.

"My sole interaction with the mother was calm and with good intentions, and the outcome of the encounter is regretful," Duvier added.

He prefaced his statement by noting he does not typically respond to online speculation, but felt compelled to address what he described as false accusations amounting to defamation.

The incident unfolded when Ada, daughter of Jude Law and London-born singer Catherine Harding, walked past the table where Roan was having breakfast at their shared hotel.

According to Ada's stepfather Jorginho, the Brazilian footballer formerly of Arsenal and Chelsea, the youngster simply glanced at the singer to confirm it was her, smiled, and returned to sit with her mother.

The family allege that Mr Duvier then approached their table and spoke in an aggressive manner, accusing them of harassment and disrespect.

Jorginho claimed the guard threatened to lodge a complaint with the hotel while his 11-year-old stepdaughter sat crying.

The confrontation left Ada "extremely shaken," her stepfather wrote on social media, and the family subsequently abandoned their plans to attend Roan's Lollapalooza Brasil performance that evening.

Ms Harding addressed the situation on social media, acknowledging Ms Roan's denial whilst questioning whether the guard had exceeded his authority.

"Would he do that if he didn't have her authority to do so? I don't know," she said. "If he does, then, obviously, that's a big problem because then he's representing her in a way that she doesn't want to be represented."

The mother-of-two described the encounter as having "ruined" what was meant to be a birthday treat for Ada.

Ms Roan has apologised directly to the family, stating: "I'm sorry to the mother and child that someone was assuming something... If you felt uncomfortable, that makes me really sad. You did not deserve that."
