The former Countdown star took time out of her Easter Sunday to unleash a fresh swipe at Reform UK and its leader

Carol Vorderman prompted some rather bemused and irked reactions on Easter Sunday after sharing a social media clip taking aim at Reform UK leader, Nigel Farage.

The 65-year-old is no stranger to voicing her less-than-favourable opinions of the Reform UK leader, and took to Instagram this weekend to celebrate a slight dip for the party in a recent poll.

The poll in question from Lord Ashcroft Polling showed the Greens tying with Reform UK and Conservatives at the top, with each party boasting a 21 percent share.

Labour were in fourth with 17 percent of the vote, while the Liberal Democrats finished in fifth with nine percent.

According to The London Economic, the poll is based on data from over 5,000 respondents. Reform dropped by one percent, while the Greens saw a two percent uptick.

Providing a possible reason for the change in voting intentions, Lord Ashcroft Polling said: "The Greens are enjoying something of a moment.

"However the numbers are calculated, there is no denying the remarkable progress they have made under Zack Polanski. I found big majorities in favour of a wealth tax, higher taxes on energy companies and a £15 an hour minimum wage.

"Like other pollsters, I have found Reform UK’s overall lead narrowing since the start of the year.

"That’s not to say their bubble has burst, simply that their seemingly inexorable rise has abated, at least for now. Global events might be part of the reason."

Spotting the chance to use the data to attack Mr Farage, Ms Vorderman took to Instagram on Sunday afternoon.

"Happy Easter, you beautiful people. The Easter Bunny has arrived with some good news because Nigel Farage, the lying charlatan whom we know and loathe, is going down, down, down in the latest polls," Ms Vorderman said.

She continued: "One of the polls out this morning put Reform right down at 21 percent. In fact, when you look at the detail, the Green Party is nudging slightly ahead of Reform, but the great irony of this poll is that it has been undertaken by a famous right-winger, Michael Ashcroft, who’s written many books with Isabel Oakeshott."

Spotting the chance to hit out another Reform UK member, Ms Vorderman's message went on: "If you don’t know who she is, she’s the blonde girlfriend of Richard Tice, Farage’s deputy, and she’s the one who scarpered off to Dubai saying, ‘Oh, oh, the VAT on private school is too much for me.’

"A second poll out today, which has been conducted by More in Common up in Scotland, shows Reform diving there too. They’re now well below Labour in the polls. SNP way out ahead and now Reform are in third place."

Ms Vorderman then began to sarcastically flutter her eyelids as she signed off: "Such a tough week for Nigel. Happy Easter, bunnies. Reform are on their way out."

Inevitably, many of Ms Vorderman's followers rushed to the initial Instagram post to pat her on the back for unleashing another tirade against Reform UK.

"Thanks Carol. Huge love!!" Green Party leader Zack Polanski replied, while ITV's resident GP Dr Amir Khan weighed in: "Love you!!"

"Happy Easter, spreader of joyful news xx," Jeremy Vine regular and political commentator Jemma Forte typed, while one of Ms Vorderman's followers praised: "Great news to start the day. Happy Easter Carol to you and yours." (sic)

However, before long, the video was circulated on X to the wider voting public, and it's safe to say that not everyone was as appreciative as Ms Vorderman's Instagram followers.

The People's Channel's very own Alex Armstrong was among the critics who found the timing of the social media clip questionable, to say the least.

"Imagine this being your Easter Sunday message to your followers," Alex penned on X. "Carol Vorderman seemingly has a very unhealthy obsession with Nigel Farage…"

He wasn't alone, as fellow journalist Charlotte Gill penned: "Carol Vorderman releases a rather hostile Easter message.

"She’s working with a group called 'Reform Are Not Your Friends'. I am keeping an eye on these groups as I’m sure they come back to the same EU networks/lobby groups. Greens are perceived as pro EU."

Meanwhile, another X user weighed in: "Dear God she’s obsessed and desperate for attention. I really don’t think she’s even vaguely on Nigel’s radar and worries! From the woman who recently plugged a Labour government she has zero credibility."

And a second pointed out: "Why would anybody take the political views of Vorderman seriously?.. she enthusiastically supported Starmer!"

"Sick to death of Vorderman spouting her political views without having the courage to run for office herself," a third X user fumed. (sic)

Ms Vorderman, who heavily backed Labour at the last general election, is now actively encouraging tactical voting among her fanbase to prevent Reform UK victories up and down the country.
