Nearly 70 per cent of shortlisted acts are women and non-binary performers

The 2026 Brit Awards nominations dropped this evening, and it's a historic moment for British music.

For the first time, the ceremony is heading outside London, with Manchester's Co-op Live playing host to the glittering event.

The shortlist was unveiled during a special digital broadcast called 'Bring on the Brits', filmed at the venue itself.

Presenters Charley Marlowe and Sarah Story revealed the contenders across 15 categories, with reactions from nominated artists and a performance from Critics' Choice winner Jacob Alon.

Jack Whitehall is back for his sixth stint as host, which is brilliant news for fans of his cheeky presenting style.

The awards ceremony, taking place on February 28, is a momentous occasion for Manchester, marking the first time the Brits have ventured beyond the capital.

The city will also host the ceremony again next year, cementing its new status as a major player in the UK music awards calendar.

This year's nominations are making history in another way, too. Nearly 70 per cent of the shortlisted artists are women and non-binary performers, which is the highest proportion the awards have ever seen.
