The BBC has come under fire after it was reported Jordan North was blindsided by his BBC Radio 1 departure after growing tensions between him and the broadcaster.
Following a backlash to news of North's exit and his replacement, it was reported that the decision was also a shock to him after it was issued without his knowledge last week.
The radio star, who had worked on the station as a freelancer and later an official host since 2014, was confirmed to be leaving on Friday in news that surprised listeners.
It was later revealed former Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing would be replacing North in a move which was also criticised by fans of the show as some weren't pleased to see a reality star taking over from the experienced broadcaster.
Reports suggest that by the time the public announcement was made, North had unknowingly already presented his final instalment with co-host Vick Hope.
According to a source, there had been growing tensions between the presenter and the BBC after he informed producers he wanted to leave.

They explained: “Conversations were going back and forth between Jordan’s people and the top people at the BBC for months, and over time they deteriorated.”
Speaking to The Mirror, the source continued: “Once he formally requested to leave, that was it – he was off air, immediately. It’s a shame it ended on such a bad note after 10 years.” GB News has contacted the BBC over the claims.
Following the news, Roman Kemp swiftly announced his own departure from Capital FM’s Breakfast show, revealing North would be taking over from him.
The host introduced North on Wednesday morning’s show, stating: “You are going to absolutely love this, Jordan. I have so much faith in you mate. It’s hard leaving, it feels like your child, but you want it to go into good hands and I know with you it’s going to be just that.”

Speaking to audiences, Kemp continued: “Everyone, send as much love as possible to Jordan.”
Responding to the latest update, some fans blasted the BBC for their approach to North’s exit from the station. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one fan fumed: “Cost cutting exercise!” while others threatened to stop listening to the show.
“I can't listen to Jamie Laing so I'll be finding something else to listen to,” another X user penned.
“Absolutely brilliant work Jordan! Do it to them before they do it to you! I wish Steve Wright did!” a third person enthused.
