The Escape to the Chateau stars bought their 45-room château in France back in 2015 and continue renovations to this day

Angel Adoree and Dick Strawbridge have opened up on their expectations for their children - Arthur, 11 and Dorothy, 10 - as they get older and think about becoming more involved with the chateau.

During the latest episode of their podcast - Dick & Angel Chat...Eau - the couple were asked by a listener what some of the misconceptions about their lives and the chateau were.

Speaking about them living in the large French house, Adoree explained: "I think it's, you know, that the chateau was bought for us or that we have had everything paid for us... um no?"

Realising he and his wife had taken two different perspectives of the question, he jumped in: "I read that slightly differently as our life in the chateau, as opposed to what people say about our life.

"Giving a real insight into our life as opposed to what people say about us because there is a difference there and a real insight into our life is that it is pretty normal.

"We may be on television and we may have done this and that but it is irrelevant because what we do is, we live a normal life. You know what is important? Arthur and Dorothy.

"Them getting up and what they do in the morning and the mum guilt about making sure we don't work too hard and making sure we spend time with our children."

Impressed with his secondary view, Adoree quipped: "That is interesting isn't it, the misconceptions because I think we just, read the question differently, I like your answer.

"A chateau doesn't change you, you just have everything on a slightly bigger scale, we still have washing to do, and we still have cleaning to do."

Strawbridge went on to discuss how involved their children were and explained: "We are talking to Arthur and Dorothy about what happens with the chateau, this is all based on reliving the experience and Arthur buying a chateau and that they can do anything.

"They are in a situation in their lives where they are pointed heavily towards a possibility to do anything and that is what the chateau does."

Agreeing, Adoree added: "I like the fact that they are thinking about that but we always try and make it really clear to them that the chateau doesn't need to be part of their lives as well.

"It can be, it is there for them should they choose to. I think the worst thing is that they feel they have a responsibility so striking that balance with them has always been (important)."

The pair previously discussed some other misconceptions the couple faced which involved them selling the chateau, something which Strawbridge exclaimed was "nonsense".

"That's not a misconception, that's utter nonsense. Let's not even talk about the other nonsense. By the way, I've been sat in bed, looked across at Angela and read that we're getting a divorce.

"So if it's in the news don't even follow that part. How many times have we sold the chateau? I can't remember, loads! And for not a lot of money!" he concluded, leaving Adoree to laugh.
