Holden aimed a thinly veiled dig at the fellow ITV star

Britain’s Got Talent star Amanda Holden brutally mocked fellow ITV presenter Holly Willoughby after her return to This Morning.

Willoughby, 42, made her highly anticipated return to ITV’s flagship daytime show amid the furore surrounding Phillip Schofield.

Schofield is mired in scandal after admitting to an affair with a much younger colleague, a relationship which he claims was “unwise, but not illegal”.

Willoughby appeared back on screens yesterday for the first time after the admission which triggered Schofield’s departure from ITV.

The 42-year-old’s return to the show had been in question as she faced scrutiny over whether she knew about Schofield’s controversial affair.

Willoughby marked her return with a short monologue where she addressed the Schofield scandal, saying she had been “shaken, troubled and let down” by the revelations.

In an apparent mockery of Willoughby’s statement, Amanda Holden took to Instagram to invite her fans to listen to her radio show.

Holden echoed Willoughby’s introduction by asking “are you ok?”, where she opened it by asking the exact same question.

Holden was also adorned in an angelic white dress, similar to the one Willoughby opted for as she made her big return to the show.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge soon doubled down on the joke by making further reference to the scandal during her show on Heart Radio.

Talking about doing the show hungover, she was asked by co-host Jamie Theakston about how she was feeling.

She said: “I got home, got straight into bed with my dog and my cat. I got up, cooked the tea and went back to bed again at eight.

“I did that thing where you wake up at two and you have to talk yourself back into going to sleep.”

Theakston replied: “We’re worried about your well-being.”

Amanda responded: “I’m OK people, are you OK?” before bursting into laughter.

A spokesperson for Holden told MailOnline: “Amanda has always made it clear in the past she has no issues with Holly. Today’s video has been taken out of context.”

Willoughby has denied having any prior knowledge of Schofield’s affair, a statement he has backed up.

Schofield also used interviews with The Sun and the BBC last week to apologise to his former co-presenter for lying about the “unwise, but not illegal” relationship.

Willoughby has previously revealed how hurt she was by Schofield’s actions in a statement on her Instagram story, saying: “When reports of this relationship first surfaced, I asked Phil directly if this was true and was told it was not. It’s been very hurtful to now find out that this was a lie.”

ITV boss Dame Carolyn McCall has been called to a parliamentary committee on June 14 to answer questions about the broadcaster’s approach to safeguarding and complaint handling following Schofield’s exit.
