The actress shared a photo from the hospital in a worrying health update

Amanda Abbington has remained in the news of late following her claims against Strictly Come Dancing pro Giovanni Pernice after she pulled out of the competition last year.

The Sherlock star has sparked other concerns this week though after taking to social media on Tuesday to share with followers that she was in hospital with her former stuntman fiancé Jonathan Goodwin.

Abbington shared the smiling selfie with her partner to her Instagram story, writing: “The bravest dude I know. More spinal surgery. We're used to hospital rooms."

She included an array of emojis indicating she's hoping for the best along with the caption, including praying hands, crossed fingers a love hearts.

The actress was engaged to Goodwin within minutes of their first meeting after her marriage to actor Martin Freeman broke down.

Tragically, Goodwin was left paralysed just a year later following a stunt on America’s Got Talent: Extreme due to a horror accident.

Goodwin, 44, suffered several serious injuries after a stunt that went wrong, including a severed spinal cord and the loss of a kidney.

Abbington’s fiancé has been a pillar of support for her after revealing she’d been diagnosed with PTSD following her Strictly Come Dancing partnership with Pernice.

The actress reportedly requested footage of her rehearsals with the 33-year-old, seemingly building evidence as she sought legal advice.

She’s also had the backing of two of Pernice’s former Strictly partners after she allegedly met up with Laura Whitmore and Ranvir Singh to discuss their experience working with the Italian dancer.

While Goodwin hasn’t publicly commented on his fiancée's “feud” with Pernice, he shared a cryptic post on social media back in January that seemed to be in support of Abbington’s claims.

Reposting an interview with singer Taylor Swift in which she talked about how women are expected to silently absorb male behaviour, he captioned the clip: “This”.

The pop sensation commented in the video “The most rage-provoking of being a female is the gaslighting that happens when you know for centuries we've just been expected to absorb male behaviour silently right?”

However, the BBC and other Strictly stars have spoken out to defend the choreographer despite continuing claims against him.

Long-term judge Craig Revel Horwood applauded the dancer’s for being “the backbone of the show” after BBC bosses backed the dancer.

Speaking to The Sun, the 59-year-old stated: “The pros not only have to be creative and be able to be good choreographers, they also have to be psychiatrists, doctors, they have to be nurses, they have to be welfare guidance people. It's not just teaching dance.”

Meanwhile, head judge Shirley Ballas, 63, went on to label Pernice “an absolute gentleman”.

It was reported this week that former Strictly contestant Rachel Riley has called for the show to provide therapy for the celebrity stars after also suffering from PTSD following her own stint in 2013.
