The presenter reveals her partner’s shocked response

Former England footballer Alex Scott has signed up for this year's I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! — a decision that has sparked a humorous reaction from her girlfriend.

The broadcaster and ex-Arsenal defender is gearing up to swap the comfort of television studios for the Australian jungle, facing her fear of heights and the challenge of camp life.

The 40-year-old, who earned 140 caps for England and won numerous titles with the Gunners, admits the experience will push her far outside her comfort zone.

However, Ms Scott told ITV she will have support from both Glynne and her mother, who love watching the programme.

"Jess thinks I am absolutely mental," Scott revealed.

While looking forward to entering the jungle, Ms Scott acknowledged her reserved nature could prove problematic among the camp's diverse personalities.

"I will need to push myself to speak out around all of the different and big personalities. Not going into myself for being the shy one will be my big challenge," she admitted.

Despite her assured on-screen presence, Scott describes herself as someone who gravitates towards corners at industry events, desperately seeking companions to avoid solitary entrances.

Scott explained how her sporting background will prove invaluable when facing bushtucker trials, saying: "I am super competitive but with myself and not other people."

"I don't want to let my team mates down," she added, highlighting how her drive centres on personal standards rather than outdoing others.

Scott went on to explain how her experience captaining teams has prepared her for potential conflicts.

"I hope as I was team captain and had to keep the peace, that my leadership qualities will come out," Ms Scott noted, suggesting she will assume a mediating role.

Scott, whose career includes a World Cup bronze, refuses to let fear compromise her performance.

"I don't want to make myself look stupid, even if I do have fears. I will just throw myself into it," she declared.

Scott views the jungle as an opportunity to display her genuine character to audiences.

"People have an idea of who I am on TV and so it will be nice to show my real self," she stated, as she is eager to move beyond preconceptions formed through her TV work.

Scott anticipates missing her hair products and favourite biscuits – particularly custard creams and bourbons enjoyed with tea.

Furthermore, her Jamaican heritage makes the prospect of endless rice meals particularly concerning.

"I love rice. With my Jamaican background, it's all about the chicken and rice. If I come out of the jungle never wanting to eat rice again, I'm going to be devastated!" she said.

Scott is looking forward to connecting with hosts Ant and Dec, having only encountered them briefly at industry gatherings.
