UK winter HEATWAVE: Britain to be hit by astonishing 16C as Atlantic low 'rollercoaster' sweeps in

Freezing temperatures could soon vanish as an Atlantic low brings in 16C in just a few days time, meteorologists have claimed.
Mercury dropped to as low as -11.7C in Altnaharra, Scotland yesterday as snow rocked parts of Britain last week.
However, NetWeather’s Jo Farrow suggested milder air is on the way as the recent cold snap fades in the latest meteorological “rollercoaster”.
She said: “Another Atlantic low sweeps in for Saturday and again brings more rain to areas that have high river levels, soggy ground and flooding concerns.

“The band of frontal rain looks to steadily work its way across the UK on Saturday, so there will be a spell of wet weather and then hopefully something brighter.
“Or the other way around. Sharp showers could appear after the frontal rain though.
“There will be milder air caught up in this system, so temperatures could reach 11 to perhaps 16C in southern Britain.
“It’s a rollercoaster as we say goodbye to the cold Arctic air.”
Yellow weather warnings are in place across the UK today

NetWeather’s maximum temperature forecaster indicates mercury on Saturday will teeter towards the mid-teens, with many places seeing 13C.
However, Britons will first need to contend with a number of yellow weather warnings.
South West England, Wales, the Midlands, North West of England, Scottish borders, eastern Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland have been warned about rainfall.
A number of flood alerts and warnings have also been put in place amid the downpours.
A total of 16 flood warnings and 115 flood alerts were issued in England, the Environment Agency has revealed.
More flooding is expected across the UKGETTYThe Scottish Environment Protection Agency warned residents about six incidents and Natural Resources Wales issued just one alert.
Looking ahead to tonight and Friday, the Met Office said: “Rain clearing north and east, however cloud will linger particularly in the east with some mist and fog in places.
“Skies clearing from the west with some showers. Feeling milder.
“Unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain, with the best of any sunshine reserved for the east.
“Generally windy with coastal gales across Wales and the southwest. Mild.”
