But one Briton - Warrington-born Frankenstein make-up artist Mike Hill - scooped the Makeup and Hairstyling award alongside Jordan Samuel and Cliona Furey.
Before the ceremony, Mr Hill, 56, called his nomination a "dream come true".
"When I was a little boy, about five-years old, I would walk to the canal," he told the BBC. "I would dig under the dirt - I don't know how I knew this - to get to the clay.
"And then I would make a menagerie of these creatures - Frankensteins, King Kongs and Wolf Men.
"Since I can remember, I've been into this stuff."
