A few bright spells in south-east England, else central and southern areas cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle and a good deal of hill fog. Northern areas having sunny spells and some showers, most in the far north.

Low cloud, mist and fog across central and southern areas with some drizzle. Clear periods further north with patchy frost and fog, but heavy showers and gales in far north.

Thursday

Low cloud lifting slowly, with some fog persisting until early afternoon over eastern England, then sunny spells. Showers in the north, then rain and strong winds into the northwest later.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday

Breezy with outbreaks of rain on Friday, heaviest in the northwest. Over the weekend, cloudy in the east with some drizzle, brighter in the west. Mild, turning colder later.
