Britain’s national weather service put out yellow weather warnings for both Monday and Tuesday

The Met Office has issued several weather warnings as scorching heat looks set to collide with thunderstorms.

The UK’s national weather service put out thunderstorm warnings for Monday and Tuesday.

Monday’s warning covers over four corners of the United Kingdom.

The East Midlands, East, London, South East, South West, West Midlands and Yorkshire & Humber have all been identified as English areas which face the warning.

Temperatures will meanwhile remain warm throughout much of the UK, with Manchester reaching 30C at 3pm

The Met Office has said that flooding of homes and businesses could happen “quickly”, driving conditions could become more difficult, public transport could be impacted, power cuts might occur and fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing a danger to life.

Central, Tayside & Fife, Grampian Highlands & Eilean Siar, Northern Ireland, South West Scotland, Lothian Borders, Wales and Strathclyde have all been identified as areas around the rest of the UK at risk from the yellow warning.

The Met Office has suggested Britons in Scotland and Northern Ireland do not face as serious a risk, claiming thunderstorms could result in difficult driving conditions, a slight chance of power cuts, delays to public transport and a small chance of homes being flooded.

Temperatures will meanwhile remain warm throughout much of the UK, with Manchester reaching 30C at 3pm.

In its wider weather forecast, the UK’s national weather service added: “Staying hot and humid for many on Monday, with plenty of sunny spells developing. Scattered slow moving thundery showers will develop during the day. Feeling very warm but cooler near eastern coasts.

“Thundery showers will ease through the evening with most places becoming dry overnight. It will remain warm and muggy for many, especially in the south.”

Tomorrow’s new yellow warning is limited to parts of Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland.
