Britain is braced for temperatures to plunge over the Christmas period, as easterly winds bring icy -4C temperatures.
The drop will spell the end for the milder temperatures experienced across the UK in recent days.
From Monday onwards, most of the country will be locked in below-zero temperatures, with most regions dipping to between -2C and -3C.
These areas include the bulk of South West England, the Midlands, the North and the borders.
The majority of Wales and Scotland will also face the drop in temperatures.
Across the UK, the lowest temperatures will be found across the Yorkshire Dales, where -4C conditions will be felt.
"Temperatures will be below average much of the time, with frost likely where clear skies and light winds prevail," the Met Office informed.
The only areas in England that will escape the festive freeze will be areas along the east coast of England, parts of East Anglia and the western tip of Cornwall.

Temperatures in these regions will range between a still chilly 0C and 1C.
Similar conditions can be expected in the north of Scotland.
Northern Ireland will enjoy a somewhat milder Christmas, with temperatures felt at around 3C to 4C.
The cooling temperatures are expected to bring generally dry weather, with a risk of some showers.

“Whilst there will be a fair amount of dry weather, a few showers will still be possible, particularly across eastern and southern parts which may be wintry in places, more especially over high ground,” the Met Office said.
Looking ahead towards the New Year, high pressure is expected to dominate.
This means the weather is expected to be generally settled.
Temperatures will also trend towards 0C and above for most of the country.
The Met does warn there would be an “increasing chance of showery conditions”.
As for the weekend ahead, showers are expected across southwest England and for parts of Scotland.
This will continue into Monday before the freeze rolls in.
