The warning will last until 9pm tonight

The Met Office has issued a rain warning today, as Britain will be battered by the wet weather for the whole day.

The Yellow weather warning began at midnight and is expected to last until 9pm tonight.

It has been put in place for parts of the North of England and the North of Wales.

The warning was originally in place for the South of Wales but it has been removed as now most of the rain has left that area.

A yellow weather warning is issued when it is likely that the weather will cause some low level impacts.

This type of warning means that Brits can expect rain all throughout the day.

The Met Office has said that rain will be heavy and persistent at times.

It is likely that the rain could cause disruption to transport and infrastructure.

Forecasters say there is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded due to the bad weather.

The Met Office said: “There is a small chance that some communities will be temporarily cut off by flooded roads.

“Spray and flooding is likely to lead to some difficult driving conditions and road closures”.

The bad weather is also expected to affect public transport.

“Where flooding occurs, there is a chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services,” the Met Office warned.

They also cautioned that the bad weather could impact the electricity supply in the area.

“There is a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses”.

The rain is expected to clear tonight, with the remaining showers to become “confined to north western areas overnight”, according to the Met.
