Wizz Air has updated how holidaymakers can use its app and pay on flights, making life easier when travelling.
The budget carrier has introduced "My Journey" - a mobile app feature designed to help passengers manage flight disruptions - and it has announced American Express will now be accepted on flights.
These updates have been rolled out to combat expected summer travel challenges, with air traffic projected to exceed 2024 levels by five per cent.
Passengers will have greater control and flexibility, whether managing unexpected delays or selecting their preferred payment method for bookings and onboard purchases.
The app will give holidaymakers more information than ever before
GETTY
The "My Journey" feature enables passengers to make various checks.
Track Everything, Instantly: Track their flight status at every step of the way (check-in, boarding time, gate number)
Instant relief: Instantly see if they’re eligible for meal vouchers or hotel accommodation
Total freedom: Redeem eligibilities directly in the app during their trip (e.g.: meals, hotel accommodation, compensation) or in case of delay
Stress-Free Decisions: Review and choose alternative travel options (rebook, refund, or accept a new flight suggested by the airline)
Wizz Air's head of customer experience, Boglarka Spak, said: "It's not just about flying, it's about feeling in control during those frustrating moments.
"My Journey is the ultimate solution for our passengers, enabling them to own their travel experience, whatever happens."
The feature has begun being introduced in phases and coincides with mounting pressure on European aviation infrastructure. Insufficient air traffic control capacity in parts of Europe, combined with anticipated severe weather conditions across the continent, threatens to create widespread disruptions beyond airlines' control.
Boglarka added: "We believe launching this feature during the peak summer period, when more flights are impacted by weather and air traffic control-related disruptions, will help our customers navigate more easily and save time and energy during their trips."
